At We Too! we’re looking for new trustees to join our board and help us support more families of disabled children across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire.
We want to hear from people who care about inclusion. If you have experience in the third sector, leadership skills in business, or simply a strong passion for helping others, we would love to speak with you. We’re especially keen to hear from parent carers who want to help shape the future of We Too!.
We started in 2015 after our founder, a local parent, struggled to find accessible activities for her disabled son. What began as a simple ‘What’s On’ guide has grown into a well-known and trusted charity, offering direct support, training, and inclusive events.
We publish a free quarterly magazine full of information, support, and listings of inclusive events. It’s the only one of its kind in Scotland and reaches over 31,000 readers in Aberdeen City and Shire. We also run Relaxed Sessions – accessible and inclusive activities that make us the leading provider of this kind of support in the North East.
In 2020, we were honoured to receive the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service. We were the youngest organisation in the area to receive it. Our team of volunteers and staff, known as our Ninjas, work every day to make sure families feel supported, welcomed and included.
We are growing as a charity and taking on exciting new roles, like becoming the accessibility lead for the Tall Ships Races in Aberdeen this summer. That’s why we’re looking for new trustees to help us build on what we’ve achieved so far.
Trustees help guide the charity and support our leadership team. You don’t need any previous experience as a trustee – we’ll give you all the training and support you need. We’re a proud signatory of the Volunteer Scotland Volunteer Charter and we’re also recognised as a Disability Confident Leader by the Department for Work and Pensions.
If you want to help create a more inclusive community and support families of disabled children, we’d love to hear from you. You can express your interest, formally or informally, by emailing Phionna McInnes at phionna@wetoo.org.uk.
