About Us

We Too! Building an inclusive society for all

About us

We Too! is a parent-led charity supporting families of children with disabilities across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire. We work to empower parents and carers through clear information, inclusive opportunities and a community that understands the day-to-day reality of raising a child with additional needs.

Founded in summer 2015 by a local parent, We Too! began with a simple idea: create a free quarterly ‘What’s On’ guide to bring together the activities, support and services available for disabled children and their families. That practical, community-driven approach still sits at the heart of everything we do.

Today, We Too! Magazine is the only publication of its kind in Scotland, reaching around 31,000 readers locally. We’re also widely recognised as the leading provider of relaxed sessions across the North East, helping families access events and experiences in a welcoming, supportive environment.

In 2020, We Too! received the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service, becoming the youngest organisation in the area to be recognised with this honour.

Our volunteers and staff are proudly known as ‘Ninjas’, reflecting our friendly, approachable culture and our commitment to making support accessible for every family.

Inclusive Events

We Too! creates inclusive “Relaxed” sessions and events in the community for all the family to enjoy by working with a variety of partners across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire.

Our events are a mixture of those produced and run by We Too!, and those existing events, run by organisations with our guidance and training.

The majority of our events are ticketed to allow control over the number of those attending, information on events and tickets can be found on the events section of the website.

Magazine

We Too! Magazine was created by founder, Phionna McInnes, after her frustration as a parent of a child with additional support needs, facing fragmented information and limited suitable activities for families like hers.

The magazine was designed to give families consistent, accessible ideas and listings tailored to their needs. It also supports sustainability by working with providers of family-friendly opportunities to help cover production costs.

Most importantly, the magazine has become a forum for families to connect, share experiences, and build new support networks, benefiting both long-standing and newly navigating families.
