“We Too,” a local Aberdeen charity dedicated to empowering families of children with additional support needs, was thrilled earlier this month, to receive a donation worth over £8,500 from a charity partnership with the annual Inverurie Panto.
The donation, which is already making a difference within the local community, was raised through end-of-performance donations and fundraising activities throughout December.
Audience members alone helped raise an impressive total of £8724.68, with the 1st Balmedie Scout Group contributing a further £250, elevating the grand total to a remarkable £8974.68.
The overwhelming success of this fundraising effort is credited to the unwavering support from the dedicated cast, crew, and enthusiastic audience, as well as the invaluable contributions from local companies Jim Reid Vehicle Sales & Service and Tutti Frutti.
Phionna McInnes, CEO of We Too, expressed gratitude for the partnership, stating, “The amount raised is just incredible, thank you to each and every person who took the time to both help raise the funds, or make a donation. The funds raised will allow We Too to continue its invaluable work across the local area”.
The partnership between We Too and Inverurie Panto also included collaboration to create a relaxed performance, allowing children and adults with additional support needs, and their families, to enjoy the festive show, and the creation of a detailed ‘visual and performance guide’, describing what to expect on arrival at the venue, and during the show, which allowed all visitors to make their own necessary personal sensory adjustments to enjoy their visit on whichever date they chose.
The Inverurie Panto, which originated in 1980 following the temporary closure of His Majesty’s Theatre in Aberdeen, is a semi-professional production renowned for its music, dance, and local humour. Since becoming producer of the production in 2008, Keith Donaldson, the team, and cast have helped to raise over £38,500 for local charities.
